Calisthenics help in improving strength, power, and balance. Sportsmen employ calisthenics to warm up before an event. Calisthenics include various exercises some of which closely resemble gymnastics movements. Principal freehand exercises performed in a calisthenics routine include pullups, pushups, squats, calf raises, crunches, and situps. Figure marches, club swinging, and rod exercises are also performed as part of a calisthenics routine.
