Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) is one of the three main types of cholesterol. VLDL cholesterol contains the highest amount of triglyceride, which is a blood fat. VLDL is considered“bad” cholesterol because it contributes to an increase in the risk of coronary artery disease. VLDL cholesterol cannot be measured directly and is therefore calculated as a percentage of triglyceride levels.
