One of the most common causes of heart disease is blockage or narrowing of the arteries supplying blood to the heart (coronary arteries) leading to coronary artery disease. It is the main reason for a heart attack. The risk of developing heart disease is increased by: presence of high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol levels, smoking and lack of physical activity.
