Cellulite is a condition that occurs particularly in women in which the skin takes on a dimpled look. Synonyms of cellulite include adiposis edematosa and dermopanniculosis deformans. The occurrence of cellulite is probably related to hormonal changes that occur with the onset of puberty. Race and heredity are also contributing factors. Although uncommon in men, cellulite is found in androgen-deficient males.
