Cancer

Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled growth of cells at any place in the human body. More than 200 types of cancer exist. Some of the causative factors of cancer include exposure the toxic chemical compounds, exposure to ionizing radiation, certain pathogens and genetics. Specific signs and symptoms of cancer occur depending on the type and grade of cancer. However, some of the general signs and symptoms of cancer are: generalized fatigue and tired, raised body temperature, unintentional weight loss, pain, changes in the bowel habits, bleeding, persistent cough, lumps, and changes in voice. The definite diagnosis of cancer along with its stage and grade is made by examining a biopsy sample of the cancer tissue. The staging and grading of the cancer helps determine the treatment methods and also the aggressiveness and spread of the disease. Though treatment is decided according to the stage and grade of the cancer, still it may include surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy using drugs.

Cancer

Cancer is the name for a group of diseases in which cells in a specific part of the body divide and grow abnormally to form clusters known as tumors. All body tissues are formed from cells whose behavior is governed by genes. Under normal circumstances, cells reproduce and die at an equal rate, but if the gene responsible for controlling this aspect of cell behavior changes or mutates then the cell can begin to replicate uncontrollably. Whilst the link between cancer and obesity has been the focus of significant research for some time, no single causal pathway has been identified and at present it is not clear whether obesity is responsible for causing the gene mutations that can initiate cancer, or if it somehow promotes cancer progression such that the disease is detected at an earlier age than would otherwise be typical
