Weight-bearing exercises are those in which individuals support their own body weight or lift weights. They are useful for building bone, developing muscle, improving heart health, and co-ordination. Load-bearing exercise includes weight-lifting, jogging, hiking, racquet sports, etc. Weight-bearing exercises should be a part of the exercise regimen of all, especially those above 30. This is because increasing and maintaining bone density through exercise is an effective way to combat osteoporosis.
